Whether it’s measuring, reading building plans or cementing – we offer the whole package of building-related activities. You can not imagine what kind of professional areas are on the construction sites of FBU? In the following sections you will find a brief summary:
To begin with: the activities on our construction sites are quite varied. Starting with site preparation, digging the construction pit and working on the foundations, then shafts are laid and secured and pipelines are laid. Of course, there is much more work to be done, such as paving or road construction. In the building construction sector, the masonry is erected and plastered, the formwork and reinforcement is installed, and then the concrete is poured. Our employees on construction sites carry out a variety of manual tasks, so their working routine is always varied. In addition, as the number of work tasks and days progresses, so does project completion, so it’s exciting to see how car parks, roads and pavements or even complex logistics or production halls are built.
# Our professional areas
In civil engineering, for example, construction equipment operators move large earth masses using specialised equipment. With numerous attachments, such as hydraulic breakers or a wide variety of buckets and adapters, our already very modern excavators become machines for special applications, and the field of activity here is also very diverse. Operating wheel loaders, compact track loaders and graders is just as much a part of the job as driving trucks and maintaining and servicing the machines.
Construction workers set curbs and road restrictions. They dig trenches, lay pipe and put in manholes. They operate small machines, such as vibratory plates, vibratory presses, saws, or grinders, and do all types of earthwork, landscaping, and paving.
When specializing in sewer construction, in addition to the work described, they also professionally construct water mains and underground facilities.
The laying of pressure pipes, pipelines for drinking water, gas, oil and central heating, as well as the construction of pipeline networks are additional aspects of the already wide range of tasks that are performed with the specialisation “pipe fitter” in addition to construction work.
In the construction of buildings, bricklayers, concrete workers and steelworkers assemble formwork, lay reinforcing steel and pour concrete. They lay bricks and plaster walls. They also seal foundations and masonry, insulate baseboards, place precast elements and pour concrete. Reworking concrete surfaces and parts, as well as repairing such, are also part of the work portfolio.
Foremen coordinate with site management to set daily construction site goals as well as organize and control them. They plan the materials and equipment for the job and schedule the allocation of personnel. Foremen communicate daily tasks to the site team and coordinate assigned activities, such as drywalling and painting, in close coordination with site management to ensure a smooth construction process. They prepare measurements of construction work as a basis for invoicing.
The site management develops construction schedule for the construction site and coordinates the timely and quality completion of the project taking care of the financial coordination with the project management, with the main objectives of completing the project to the client’s full satisfaction. To this end, subcontractors and suppliers as well as equipment and personnel are coordinated closely with the foreman, regular site consultations are conducted, services rendered are invoiced, and finally the completed building is accepted and delivered. Compliance with health and safety measures is implemented and monitored in conjunction with the foremen.
The ability to read and understand construction plans and technical drawings is characteristic of all construction trades. In addition, the work to be done requires team spirit as it is done hand in hand.
